On Saturday August 19th, 2023, more than 2,000 local children and their families, attended our annual Back to School Blast event. This event was held simultaneously in 3 different locations: Vancouver, South Vancouver, and the Tri-Cities.
It was such an amazing day! We had bouncy castles, a BBQ lunch, haircuts for kids, visits from special community guests, a clothing thrift store, and delicious treats.
The goal of the event was not only to provide fun and entertainment for the entire family, but also to relieve some of the financial pressure associated with going back to school. Your generosity enabled us to give backpacks to 1,000 school children through referrals from our Food For Families program and other partner agencies serving children from under-resourced families.
We sincerely thank our donors, community partners, and more than 200 volunteers who made this all possible.
In addition, the financial support will also fuel our ‘Adopt-A-School’ initiatives for the entire 2023-24 school year. Through our school partnerships, we will provide resources to 45 schools across Vancouver, Burnaby, Tri-Cities, and Surrey with essentials such as food programs, hygiene kits, classroom and extracurricular support, and more.
